The Wedding Singer – takes us back to 1985 when hair was big, collars were up and wedding singers were cool. The sparkling new score does for the ‘80s what Hairspray did for the ‘60s and is the most romantic musical in twenty years. Robbie Hart (a favourite wedding singer) enjoys life until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar.

The programme made interesting reading – it was well designed, bright and cheerful.  It contains all the information needed with pictures alongside which is always helpful.  The pen pictures were interesting and reflect well on the individuals. The half-page advert for NODA was well placed.

The various costumes were well thought out and easy to wear.  The cast looked very comfortable in their 80s stylised outfits and both hair and makeup enhanced the costumes.

The orchestra created a good sound and supported the singers well with well-balanced principal ensembles and exciting singing overall.  The musical interpretation was excellent.

Throughout the evening the whole audience was engrossed in the action and the whole production was so very well crafted.  The integration of the principals and chorus was evident with each member of the chorus creating their own character. This show integrates acting, dancing and singing and the cast showed just how versatile they were. The number of small roles enabled many of the cast to have their ‘moment of glory’.  It was obvious that a great deal of hard work had gone in to create this polished performance.  The energy and dynamism just oozed from the stage and invigorated the audience.  The choreography was not only well-devised but well-executed – not an easy thing with non-dancers.

The performance was very pleasurable to watch, and the production was of a high standard.
