This is one show I have never seen before, but what a superb production it turned out to be. The young company had tremendous fun and kept the audience totally absorbed throughout. The stage was full of performers who were enthusiastic and completely confident in their performance.
The Wedding Singer needs a good male lead and this show had it in spades, Robbie Hart (Ethan Marescaux) vocally strong, gave a convincing performance with varying moods. When his fiancee Linda (Catherine Oytehel) leaves him standing at the altar he turns to his new friend Julia (Kate Machon) who unfortunately is engaged to an obnoxious, cheating, Wall Street Broker, Glen Gulgia (Isaac Marescaux). All three gave an excellent portrayal of their characters and had equally good singing voices. Very promising cameo roles came from George, Sammy and Granny Rosie.
The Choreographer created entertaining routines that the whole company, from the smallest ones, right through to the main characters, could cope with easily. The set was designed and constructed, with a set of steps at each side of the stage, and a platform across the top, allowing the show to flow freely and quickly along. The show, although the music is not well known, was musically pleasant to the ear and a joy to watch. Congratulations to Ashley and Pippa for a job well done.
