Once again Cleckheaton and Spenborough delivered a great evening's entertainment, based on three of the original episodes from the television series "The Vicar of Dibley" by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer, adapted for the stage.
The set used they used split the stage in half, one side was the Vicarage and the other side the Village Hall, this enabled them to move along quite quickly without lots of scene changes.
All three episodes have virtually the same characters all easily recognisable, and all gave excellent interpretations of their roles.
In the first one "The Easter Bunny" they are discussing what they can give up for Lent, Geraldine (Noreen Armitage) has all the answers of course, and in the end they end up with two Easter Bunnies. The second episode called "Dibley Live" Geraldine secures a radio spot for the residents to present various shows. Hugo ( Chris Avery) presents his favourite records, Alice (Abbie Sampson) beats the village champion in the Quiz, and Frank (James Creegan) uses his spot to 'come out' and announce that he is gay.
Thge third and funniest episode "The Christmas Lunch Incident" when Geraldine is invited to four different Christmas lunches, the last one being at her "OTT" friend Alice's house.
The acting was of very high standard, great characterisations, good body language and facial expressions. The first night flowed exceptionally well with a good appreciative audience.
