A first class production with a well rehearsed company who looked good, sang splendidly and achieved excellent diction. Julia Garbutt (Mother Superior) was understanding and kind and her Nuns tried to emulate her but Maria tried their patience! Laura Crowther as Maria was full of joy and like Mother Superior has a lovely voice. The von Trapp children were all charmers but their father was quite formidable - till you got to know him, and was really well played by Neil Broadbent. His friends Max and Elsa (Paul Bennett/Sharon Whitehead) were very entertaining but opened our eyes to people of that era. Liesel and Rolf (Chloe Byrnes/Peter Turner) sang and 'played young love in a difficult situation' very well.
Superb scenery and costumes - congratulations to everyone.
