The Snow Queen is I feel more of a Fairy Tale rather than a more traditional style pantomime and the story is quite difficult to convey to the audience and this script was a little short on humour by this society's usual standard. Katy Chadwick as the Snow Queen gave an interesting performance with a fine costume a little slower delivery of her lib would have been a great benefit to her evil intent. Snowdrop (The Spirit of Spring) was most impressive as she tried to combat the evil Snow Queen her diction was perfect. Vinny Empsall (Granny Fannie-Annie The Dame) had the unenviable task of taking the dame role so long played by the great Eric Arundell. He did fine for his first time with a script that did not give him much scope to help him. Eloise Lovell (Gerda the Dame's granddaughter) was lively and enthusiastic a pleasing performance as she worked well with best friend Kai played by Samantha Hayward the boy stolen by the Snow Queen at her best with her solo 'On My Own'. Sarah Roberts (Blossom the Spring Flower Lady) was most suitable and very vivacious character. Andy Harrison (Ziggy an ageing hippy) and Amanda Lovell (Sunbeam a hippy princess) were again a most interesting and humerous interjection into the plot (shades of John Lennon and Yoko Ono!) The sets were most appropriate for the show but less tab cloths would help with better continuity. The usual excellent costumes did much to enhance the show as did the musical accompaniment but I did feel the sound system was not up to the usual high standard.
