The Players opted for two contrasting pieces once again for their November presentation.  The first act comprised a series of three “radio plays” set in the war period, illustrating village life, which had been scripted by a member of the Society.  A large cast was used to portray the many varying characters of the village.  Reading directly from the scripts, as would have been the case for such radio plays, gave the cast some support but at times I felt hampered some of the characterisation which could have been gleaned from the pieces.  That said much of the humour was developed and the cast were all ably supported by a very enthusiastic “Foley” who added more than just sound effects to the passing scenes.  Act Two saw the return to Little Grimley, in another one act play by David Tristam depicting the dysfunctional committee of Little Grimley Amateur Dramatics Society.  The four actors were suitably matched in this piece and worked well to develop contrasting characters through use of a very cleverly devised script.  Particular mention to Jo Myers who had stepped in at a late stage to take on the role of “Bernie”.  An enthusiastic and supportive audience very much enjoyed this evening of entertainment.
