This show being by far one of my favourites brought me to The Gwyn Hall in fear and trepidation. Could an amateur company, no matter of their talent, pull it off? Well my fears were allayed and I can safely say that the company did the production proud.

There was a good house and the audience were very appreciative of the talent on the stage. I was very impressed with the ensemble, a number of whom had several roles to play. Special mention must go to David Lewis in his variety of roles, all of which were played with… well, all the ‘gaiety’ he could deliver!

The principals all shone. Keith Milward was a successfully lecherous, lewd lascivious but strangely loveable Max and Leslie Walters was a suitable ‘Broderick-esque’ Leo. Kelly Ann Allen had it and flaunted it in the role of Ulla and the team of Davron Hicks as Roger and Sam Pryce as the ‘Common Law Assistant’ Carmen was perfect. Special mention must go to the quite amazing performance given by James Hall as Fraz Liebkind as he was quite outstanding in this role. His comedy timing was beautiful and his characterisation one of the best I have seen of this Hitler-loving fanatic.

The set was great and the lighting often very good indeed. The over all effect of the show was effervescent and nobody on stage ever lacked focus. They all ‘kept it gay’ as indeed this is a prerequisite of the piece.

I had a marvellous evening and was thoroughly entertained. My congratulations to the entire company.
