This is the first time I have seen this Youth group and I really enjoyed the performance - so well done to all involved in the production.

A Gilbert & Sullivan classic, directed by Wendy South with Musical Director Rachael Thorpe, choreography by Anita Pritchard and Emalene Hickman.

Well costumed and simple set all added to the show. The main characters all work well together and sang nicely. Dominic Sly was good in the role of Frederic and worked well with Caitlin Buckley as Mabel. I also liked Rosie Buckley as Ruth who mistakenly made Frederic an apprentice to the Pirates and not a Pilot.

Tim Syed played an excellent and enthusiastic Pirate King. He has a great stage presence and cheeky smile. The Major General Stanley was played by Jason Sly the only adult in the show covering at short notice and an excellent job he did, adding a great character and singing voice.

There is also a lot of comedy in the show and Thomas Woodcock as the Sergeant of Police did a good job with his ‘men’. All the Pirates and girls did a good job. They all looked like they had fun and enjoyed themselves on the stage and this came over to the audience.

It’s always nice to see Youth groups so keep up the good work.
