THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

They just had to didn't they - yes, they just could not resist the challenge that this musical presents to produce as one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's finest shows, as soon as it was available for school productions. All the problems of this show with its very difficult score and scenery problems were tackled and largely overcome. The casting of all the main roles was excellent with very strong performances especially from Megan Jennings (Christine Daae) and Max Smith (Raoul). Lauren Raynor-Dixon (Carlotta) displayed a very fine vocal talent. All the remaining cast gave us fine acting performances with Tom Lillywhite (The Phantom) being very impressive. The show was very well choreographed and the costumes outstanding particularly in the Masquerade scene. One problem now - how do you follow that???
