The Night in Question

Author Eric Chappell (Rising Damp etc on TV) set his play in an open-plan office, whose staff were all secretly misbehaving on The Night in Question when a serious assault took place nearby, except for the unfortunate one hounded by the incompetent police on inadequate (but sufficiently comic) grounds. His assured writing put over by a well-rehearsed cast produced gales of laughter, though the staging proved difficult and the present day setting was belied by many dated references.
