This was a most interesting and enjoyable production. The casting was strong in all the various roles. The director Stephanie Roe did I felt encourage a slightly more relaxed interpretation in some roles than usual, especially Ko-Ko played by Chris Hall who gave an inspirational performance. The late withdrawal of Anna Trent (Yum-Yum) on the Thursday evening meant a mad dash to get Carol Parkinson on stage with only a few hours notice, her previous knowledge of the part was no doubt a great help and she was able to give a fine performance given such short notice. The chorus singing under the direction of the new M.D. Nicholas Whitaker was of excellent quality. The fine set and costumes along with excellent lighting and a brilliant orchestra gave us all a fine nights entertainment.
