The Mikado is my favourite G. & S. Show with so many songs and wonderful parts for the cast to play. The casting of all the roles was extremely good made up in the main of some of the best exponents of G. & S. music in the local area. Chris Hall as The Mikado opened the show in fine style showing off his versatility for many roles. Steven Greenwood (Nanki Poo) is a well known performer in G. & S. productions and much sought after with a brilliant tenor voice and superb acting. Malcolm Parkinson as ever gave a most entertaining performance as Ko-Ko The Lord High Executioner he really relishes playing this role. David Parker Pooh-Bah The Lord High Everything Else is just made to perform this very eyecatching role his wonderful bass baritone voice along with most amusing facial expressions make him a natural character to play this part. Oliver McGreevy (Pish-Tush) is a relatively new G. & S. performer he sung well and was confident in the trio and quartets. Stephanie Roe (Katisha) reprises this role again her wonderful voice and very stern acting way makes her a perfect Katisha. The main accolade this year must go to Elizabeth Blount as Yum-Yum she took over the part a few hours before dress rehearsal when Carol Parkinson had to withdraw with illness. Elizabeth is a well known performer and gave a nearly word perfect performance. Congratulations to David Hall on his first production as producer and to the fine orchestra, sound and lighting teams and the excellent stage set.
