The only way to work on a piece of theatre like this is be totally involved and this is how it was approached with this cast from every angle to great effect. Director Anya Callaghan is to be congratulated for this work.
The Audience also are to be drawn into this world of tragedy and hope as Blackwood Little Theatre
weave their magic with emotion.
Megan Parsons as Susie Salmon excelled as the young girl, a unique and difficult portrayal, one she took and made her own, a perfect voice for this girl. Her light moves on set were almost on angel’s wings.
This whole cast gelled so well and were brilliant, bringing all the many aspects of this at times harrowing play to the fore with skill.
The lighting was exceptional.
A creative set brought atmosphere to every scene and the house, cleverly at the side of the auditorium to chilling effect. A very well thought out casting brought each character their best strengths for the parts and all were excellent, including the parents of Susie, Stephen Seggle as Jack and Charly Flynn-Giles as Abigail and Ruby Porter as Lindsey Salmon .Mark Fry as George Harvey ensured this characterisation as the troubled, deeply flawed man… well played.
Louise Elliott, a special performer as Granma Lynn brought contrasting light relief and Morgan Hopkins as Buckley Salmon a spirited star performance.
Taking your Director Anya’s invitation to reflect on a loss and how we find solace,
I share and reflect on my own grief at losing a man I had known all my life, spending hours on the mountain listening to melancholy music only now four years on, to miraculously have found deep love again. There is light..
A night to reflect and remember. Thank you to you all for this great piece of theatre .
Thank you for inviting us.
