~~This is a comedy by Raymond Hopkins set around husband and wife, David & Janet Thompson, who after 32 years of marriage decided to return to the Sea View Guest house where they stayed for their honeymoon.
The Guest House has seen better days, and lots of things happen along the way. The set was very good being the main dining area of the house and the stage extension for the kitchen to the side worked very well.
Director Cally Van der Pauw has an excellent cast for this play, and is assisted by Geoff Green and Helen Bennett the whole production team have worked very hard.
Alastair Chisholm and Caroline Biggin work well together as (Jack & Mary Longthorp) the guest house owners who are trying their best to keep things together, along with Michelle Cox (Tina Lewis) who works for them.
Isabel Yeo (Janet Thompson) and her husband Alastair Banks (David Thompson) play there parts very well also as they want to rekindle there love by returning to the guest house, but unfortunately, Janet’s mother Annie Cooper (Marjorie Braithwaite) who has been living with them for the last year also comes with them on the holiday. There are some very funny moments between them all.
The other holiday makers are a honeymooning couple Jo Instrall and Mark Gammon (Sara & Duncan Ross) and they have some funny times; the other guest Ingrid Bond (Amina Betnay) is a hotel reviver and takes a shine to David in act two and he almost gets caught out on several occasions. The unexpected guest Tyson the mouse causes lots of amusement as they try and find him before LizParrington (Toni Clark) the inspector from the council finds him and shuts them down. The 70’s party night was very good with great costumes.
Janet and David sort out their differences as mother announces she is moving out, Amina gives the hotel a good review and they start getting more bookings. This is a very funny play and everyone worked very well together. Well done to one and all.
