Lilies on the Land
Shinfield Players Theatre, SPT
This was a funny and entertaining show, with good characters, clearly defined, all with a sense of who they were and their place in the whole. There were some good comic moments and nice timing. The actors were all well cast; Mrs Wilberforce was reliable and entertaining and the villains all had their moments, over and under-playing as required. A challenging set being staged on two levels in a tight acting space and a challenging script with lots of physicality, several murders, climbing through windows and hiding in cupboards. Lighting and sound was good and costumes, props and set dressing were all right for the period.
