This world famous 1955 film had enormous success, and Blackwood Little Theatre were right on trend choosing this stage version for their play as it was also being staged in the West End recently. A fabulous concept for comedy and intrigue, and this cast of high talent gave it justice from every angle as all excelled in their individual roles portraying relaxed and believable roles with some brilliant acting and direction.

We were transported into Mrs Wilberforce’s house showing every detail.

A welcome return to the stage was Huw Thomas playing Professor Marcus taking full control of this role, with his clear diction, giving a professional performance. Geoff Yates as Lewis Harvey the hit man, a subtle performance menacing and cool, we could have done with a little more volume, however very well portrayed throughout.

Claire Rooke an experienced thespian gave her interesting interpretation of Mrs Louisa Wilberforce, we knew she was observing all the crooks moves every minute!!Well done! Rhydian Edbow, Harry, versatile as ever and an actor who can transform himself into any character with his many skills. What can we say when we laughed at every entrance and the audience were in an uproar with the expressions of One Round, Stuart Wilson who was absolutely hilarious!!

Blaine Jones always a surprise how Blaine can become the character effortlessly he was the perfect Major and embodied him in everything he did enjoying the role as his talent shone and the comedy rose to heights.

Other parts well played were Catherine Clark as Mrs Tromleyton, Mark Fry as Constable Macdonald set the scene for the audience as he welcomed us into the theatre so convincing we thought he could be the Heddlu!!

Mrs Wilberforces friends were all so real, very good performances from Louise Elliott, Elliott Ship and Heidi Griffiths.

Congratulations to James Amos for his very well paced direction of this play, the action kept in perfect skilful balance ensuring total interest for the gripped audience.

Well done to Neal Elstone and crew for a brilliant set and technical.

Thank you BLT for your warm welcome and hospitality it was a pleasure for us to visit you again. Look forward to another performance by this special company.
