Lilies on the Land
Shinfield Players Theatre, SPT
Ricky's technical teams constructed a wonderfully practical van painted yellow very badly which, with full stage projections of Gloucester Crescent, Camden Town doctored to look like impressionist paintings, made a great setting for the mostly true story. And their cast rose to the occasion led by a tour–de-force portrayal of the Lady in and out of her Van through the years, combined with two superbly gentle Alan Bennetts who sounded just like the real thing and managed to remain charitable and humorous.
