This quintessentially English play built around the quirks and norms of the upper classes as they were in Oscar Wilde’s time remains both charming and clever.

This was a large cast who worked very hard, producing some very creditable performances creating some very nice pieces of theatre. Excellent team work, good delivery of dialogue, clear diction all made for a polished performance from a very talented cast.

For me there were two stand out performances on the night. Sharon James as Lady Bracknell - A well worked on and rounded performance. The second was from Edward Lee as Jack Worthing - His commitment to the role was very evident.

The play was obviously well rehearsed, timing of the dialogue ensuring there was no lack of pace, not easy to achieve but so essential with this particular piece.

The set was well designed and functional and the lighting was appropriate. Stage props and costumes were authentic, however the interval scene changes were very slow and could have cut 20 mins off a nearly 3 hour play.

A good debut performance by this new theatre company, congratulations to all involved.
