As the song goes, oh what a night, and oh what a show. Take 2 really excelled themselves with their latest offering, The Full Monty. From the off, the audience, 95% female, were in the mood for fun and frolics.

Cev Barker and Karl Brennan were fabulous as Jerry and Dave, two of the out of work steel workers. Their chemistry on stage was electric and such a believable friendship between the two.

Credit must also to be given to Jake Thomson (Ethan) who’s portrayal  of the Donald O’Connor wannabe was a joy to watch. Ryan Mitchell who played Malcolm, was perfect for the suicidal security guard. His duet with Ethan during the funeral was one of the shows many highlights. Glyn Daniels played the role of Harold, with much humour and his frustration at how slow the other men picked up his routines was very well played.

I have to take my hat off to all the men, as the night I attended, temperatures had dropped to -6. Not sure I would want to bare all, in those temperatures.

I must congratulate Logan Marsden, who as the only child in the cast held his own on the stage with such experienced adults.

The women also had a role to play in this very funny show. Julie Whitfield again showed what a talented and versatile performer she was with a very funny turn as Harold’s ballroom and holiday loving wife Vicky. Sue Higgins as Dave’s wife was perfect in this role. Her song with the other ladies ‘Woman's World’ was wonderfully performed.

However, for me the star turn in this show was Pauline Hindle as Jeannette. Pauline was sensational as the chain smoking piano player. Her reaction to the ‘lunchbox’ was perfection.

Big congratulations to all who took part in this fabulous production, but especially to Geoff Whitfield (Director), Ian Price (MD) and Sue Higgins (Choreographer). John and I definitely left the theatre feeling a little hot under the collar.
