The Best of British Musicals

The Best of British Musicals – wow what an evening – Fab–u-lous.  The whole evening went with the most amazing swing. This multi-talented society certainly knows how to entertain and to give their members opportunities to develop their talents.

The programme was colourful with a centre page full of photographs of the company - I am sure there were more on the stage at the grand finale!  The whole programme was easy to read and really illustrated the spirit of the society.  The NODA Crest proudly displayed on the front cover opposite that of the Society was a delight to see.

The scenery was simple but very effective however many of the scenes were effectively enhanced with lighting. What would we do without intelligent lights!  All the technical aspects of the show were dealt with very professionally and helped to make the show move effortlessly through the various musicals. Throughout the show costumes were colourful, well-chosen and added to the whole effect.

During the evening we were constantly being entertained at a very high standard and I am loathed to pick out any individual for although there were solo performances they were very much part of the whole production and each one really captured the feel of the particular show.  Whether a principal or a young member of the Company the focus, attention to detail and absolute concentration were there for all to observe. The dancers, the singers, the musicians and the actors all contributed to an evening of fine entertainment.  The orchestra provided a firm but light backing to all the numbers which is very commendable.  The singing covered a whole realm of genres, but each was accomplished clearly and with panache. The whole evening was so slick, so polished and so enjoyable.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, should be very pleased and proud of their achievements.
