Welcome back Valley Arts after three very long years, and what a comeback! Three performances of fun, comedy and laughter, playing to three packed houses, a great accomplishment for all.

A lively, bright opening ‘Comedy Tonight’ complete with happy, smiling faces, did just that, setting the foundations of voice and name at a perky pace. Snappy songs were in abundance, sensibly kept short, all ‘hitting the spot’ in choice and performance. Lighting and technical kept the whole thing together admirably, including a ghostly UV visitation which worked exceedingly well on the renowned, restrictive stage. The skills of the costume and prop department were never more evident than during the archery contest which saw Robin and his merry men disguised in some of the most ridiculously funny costumes, including a petite Friar Tuck wearing a pair of the largest sunglasses imaginable!

Choice of a tightly written script gave plenty of opportunity for cast to display their well-paced comedic skills, brought to the fore by Dame Dora and Will Scarlet in particular, who bounced off each other with hilarious, appropriate ad-libs which had the audience in stiches. Several new members have introduced themselves to the society, bringing strength to the cast and talent to the stage, including a charming ‘Juliet’ who revealed a delightful voice, savoir-faire and some nifty, graceful moves.

Without doubt this was a delightful, little gem of a production with bucket loads of energy, enthusiasm and community entertainment. Valley Arts you have been missed!
