The Addams Family - Young@Part
Review – Jo Wilson-Hunt Youth Coordinator Noda South West
On behalf Julie Kibby of DISTRICT 8a 15/07/22
The little stage of the Art Centre was suitable spooky to greet the dead of Addams past and as the recorded overture began the family and ancestors filled the stage. Gomez (13 Years Old) immediately became the host supported by his loving wife Morticia ( 12 Years Old), these two had a rapport on stage well beyond their years and they lit it up . Morticia’s characterisation was excellent throughout, from her movement to comic timing ,a young lady to certainly watch out for in the future. Gomez also had great timing and delivered the role with maturity and understanding. Wednesday and Lucas were well matched and also had a good rapport. Grandma was a cutie who made us giggle, her full disclosure was nicely!!! presented. Alice was well drawn and I wish the Young@Part script had not removed your solo as it would have helped you truly show your transformation: saying that your performance was believable and your come backs to Mal were fun. All the cast were engaged and in character which made the show a pleasure to watch.
This show had a really young production team and they too must be congratulated as Addams is not an easy show and certainly not as a directing and choreographers debut; but you did really well and it will be interesting to see how you grow and develop as you move forward.
Well done to all concerned, the audience had a great time in Central Park!
