The Addams Family

This musical production, based on the US cartoon family credited as "an inspiration for the Goth subculture", provided humour, fine singing and spectacle rather than horror, with a dancing chorus of sixteen female ancestors suggesting parthenogenesis as the reason for the family's eccentricities. And the soft centre was confirmed when the unlikely match of an Addams daughter and a "normal" boy finally received the blessings of both sets of parents. Brilliant plotting by the Director and superb work by the Crew overcame the difficulties of the hired set.
