The Addams Family -  The story of daughter Wednesday introducing her “normal” boyfriend and his family to the Addams family. The show is based on the cartoons drawn by Chas Addams and not the TV show but the characters where lifted off the page by the principles to give us the creepy and kooky family we know.

Gomez Addams played by Kelly Merritt was warm, funny and charismatic and maintained his Spanish accent well. He anchored the show with confidence, strong performance.

Morticia Addams played by Jo Herco-Thomas was serene and gothic, both in voice and expression. Excellent portrayal of the character, loved that this actress had the iconic tone while calling for ‘Gomez’

Wednesday Addams played by Imogen Blacklidge gave an excellent vocal performance and maintained her melancholy personality very well of this crossbow wielding stroppy teenager. An actress to look out for in the future.

Pugsley Addams played by Joshua Stanbury oozed confidence, good vocals, his interpretation of the character was spot on. His comedy timing and interactions were good with grandma and sister. Another one to look out for in the future.

Uncle Fester played by Steve Lane gave a great characterisation of this loveable yet bungling character. He had a great rapport with the audience and he appeared to enjoy playing this character.  Good all round performance.

Lurch played by Stephen Lurvey  gave a credible performance as the intimidating, half dead butler. He managed the infuriating slow-speed progression and dead-pan expression required. Good performance.

Grandma Addams played by Carole Screen did not miss a trick in action or timing. Good strong performance,

Mal Beineke played by John Hurley put in a solid performance as the rather bemused and then humiliated Mal. Good performance.

Alice Beineke played by Kate Stanbury was the typical American wife and was a delight. Lovely character, good strong performance.

Lucas Beineke played by Karl Whitcombe was the ideal college student bewildered by what he had got into. Good stage presence and good vocals.

The chorus of ancestors each had their own deathly personalities; extravagant costumes and gave terrific support to the principal line-up.

The set designed for this production along with excellent costumes, choreography and make up added greatly to producing the creepy atmosphere called for.

Unfortunately evening i attended the production encountered a number of mishaps regarding song lyrics and lib in addition to early entries by cast members.

Congratulations to all involved.
