The Actress, written by Peter Quilter, is a comedy about the farewell performance of a leading Actress and the people in her life that come to see her last show.

Angela Hunt has a great cast with this production, the set has a lot of detail and is mainly the ‘stars’ dressing room, I liked the cards on the wall and the flowers, and the clever dressing room mirror, there is also a ‘Stage’ area to the side used when they act Checkhov’s The Cherry Orchard play scene in the show. Lighting and sound are also good.

Christine Hughes plays Lydia – The Actress, and is believable in her role, she is looking forward to her new life in Switzerland with her new husband to be, but also will miss her time in the limelight, she has some nice moments with the other characters.

The people in Lydia’s life are Teresa Miller as Nicole the daughter and she is very confident; Steve Russell is Paul the ex-husband, he has some nice comedy lines;  Becky North is lovely as Lydia’s dresser Katherine, and there is a defiantly love hate relationship between Julie Lax as Margaret the company manager.

Her new life is going to be with Nigel Bonynge as Charles her ageing fiancé, he has some comedy lines coming back and forth to see her. Alla Mills is very good as Harriet the agent I loved it the more and more drunk she got on the brandy before she exploded in self pity as she was going to lose her best client.

Well done to everyone evolved in the production, we really enjoyed the play.
