Many people will be acquainted with the storyline of Alfred Hitchcock's famous film, The 39 Steps, but this spoof adaptation transforms it into a hilarious comedy.
Cein and Alison have to be congratulated on not only directing this well-known book and film, but also bringing together such a talented group of actors.
All the actors gave a very confident performances. The different accents, pace of the dialogue and the comedy timings, facial expressions and puns on words were all perfect. We knew this was going to be a funny and it did not disappoint.
The hero, Richard Hannay, was played with style by Sam Oliver. With copious amounts of dialogue he excelled in this role. The other three actors played all the remaining characters. Briony Harrison played the roles of Annabella Schmidt, Margaret and Pamela. The characters require three different accents and characterisations, and Briony was outstanding in all of these roles.
Sam Novelli and Charles Upton, performed "their socks off" playing multiple characters, which required super-fast costume changes and different accents to suit each character - even acting out more than one character at a time - it was exhausting watching them - brilliant acting from Sam and Oliver.
The production was enhanced by the stage effects, the wardrobe team and the stage hands (known as "The Brown Coats") They ensured that the many many scene and costume changes all moved with ease and with pace in this expertly co-ordinated production.
This was a first-rate production and everyone involved has to be congratulated.
Thank you for the hospitality and a great evening which gave the audience so much to laugh at.
