When I sat down in the theatre, I did not expect such a fabulous eveningof entertainment. We started with a packed stage for the opening. Lovely red and white costumes, great choreography, a nice medley of songs and lots of beaming smiles.
This was followed by “I dream of camping. The reverse positions scene needed a little more polish but the audience loved it. This set us up for the Dreamland scene. We were entertained with a selection of Dream songs including Anydream will do from Joseph. There were some nice touches with lights and ribbons.
Next we moved onto space with a nice sketch including the Star Trekking song. This was followed by a selection of “space” related songs including Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft by the Carpenters, Space Oddity by David Bowie and the UK Eurovision song Spaceman. The music was a little too loudf or the Shooting Star song, so we couldn’t hear the voices. The costumes were great with stars on a black background. The cast had torch lights as theyentered from the auditorium. This was a nice touch.
Next we had Eurovision’s Got Talent where judges cost £3.50. There was somegood comedy in this sketch.
We finished the first half with an Abba tribute which was absolutely fabulous. Great costumes and choreography with all our favourite songs, Ring ring, Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, just to name a few.
Act 2 began with a wonderful carnival atmosphere. Brightly coloured costumes with feather headdresses enhanced the performance of carnival songs such a sGloria Estafan’s Conga and Cuba.
This was followed by The Interview with squirrel and the two policemen. Thiswas another funny sketch with characters wearing a mop, a tea cosy andashredded paper wig on their heads. The audience enjoyed this and booed in all the right places.
Next was Behind Bars with typical “jail” songs, Jailhouse Rock, I fought thelaw, I want to break free. This scene was very good and I did like the 2 high placed cells which were overlooking the auditorium.
The “cell block tango” from Chicago was brilliantly performed by the six performers. Great singing and choreography.
New beginnings gave a superb medley of songs, Grease, The circle of life, Dayslike these and the Greatest showman.
12 days of camping was a great mickey take on the 12 days of Christmas. The 4c ast members had great fun with this. The audience loved 5 toilet rolls as theywere thrown on stage every time the words were sung. We all joined in with“a torch with a dodgy battery”.
The finale was the icing on top of the cake. More fabulous singing and dancing. The whole performance was brilliant. Great costumes and choreography with lovely singing. To have achieved this in only 3 months is incredible. The cast of all ages, the back stage crew, musicians, wardrobe people and everyone involved should be very proud of such an amazing production.
A fantastic evening of entertainment.Thank you for inviting me.
