Returning to the Norman Conquest trilogy after their 2023 production of Round and Round the Garden, it was interesting to observe character development (particularly in two actors returning to their previous roles). Ayckbourn is deceptively difficult to get right, the temptation being to overplay characters. This was avoided for the most part and it will be interesting to see what balance is achieved should the decision be made to complete the trilogy at a later stage.
