The Penelopiad
Sinodun Players, The Corn Exchange, Wallingford
Argosy Players performed "Table Manners" the first and I think the best play in the "Norman Conquests" Trilogy for their Spring production. This is Ayckbourn at his most entertaining. The six characters are five members of a rather dysfunctional family and a neighbouring vet - all brought together rather reluctantly over a weekend. The three siblings are a rather dreary bunch but there peace is shattered by the irrepressible brother-in-law - or husband - Norman, a libidinous librarian, eager to comfort the troubled ladies. This talented cast presented an entertaining rendition of this play recreating the 1970s delightfully.
