The role of Charity Hope Valentine is one of the most exacting and difficult leading lady parts in musical theatre calling for long periods of sustained acting and singing Amanda Eyre gave us a most outstanding performance in this role and also contrived to choreograph the excellent work of the dancers and chorus. The Fandango girls all gave great support to Charity especially Nickie (Bev Sheard) and Helene (Melanie Dixon). Chris Hall as Oscar gave a well studied slightly diffident performance as the role requires and was at his best in the elevator scene with Charity. This show contains many wonderful show stopping numbers but as usual The Rhythm Of Life number was the pick of the bunch, well led by Alan Sykes as Daddy. The good costumes, fine sound and lighting with a strong lively orchestra all added up to a very enjoyable production.
