Sweet Bird of Youth

With complex, multi-layered, flawed and frequently less than pleasant characters, this is an extremely difficult play to get right. Fortunately Bob Hope Theatre attracted an extremely strong cast who were each able to get underneath the skin of their roles which in turn created the necessary dramatic tension along with some electric moments. Although the lion’s share of dialogue was concentrated in the hands of a few exceptional performers, this was also very much an ensemble production which had no weak links. Congratulations to BHT in not only in mounting this challenging (and not necessarily commercial) play and meeting its exacting demands.
