It is always great to see a company tackling a new piece of theatre and the company did very well with this new musical by Lyn Mackay.
They performed to a packed house, which was lovely to see, and the audience were greeted by an open stage with a very well designed set around which the entire show was centred. Costumes were well sourced and the technical team must be commended for good lighting and sound.
The company worked well together and the ensemble performed well on stage, always staying focused and in character. The ensemble sound was full and exciting in the big company numbers.
The Morgan Family were led well by the ever-talented Dean Walker as Danny and Nadia Abouayen as Lizzie with lovely performances by Ben Thomas and Madison Stevens as two of the Morgan children. Liz Stockton was a very good Muriel Thomas and acting as matriarch and patriarch of the Morgan and Thomas families respectively were Mary Isaac in a wonderful portrayal of Elsie Morgan and Ken Thomas as Ivor Thomas, a highlight being their duet ‘Bring back the old romancing’.
Nick Packer was a convincing Jesse, singing the role beautifully and there were fabulous performances from Bruce Miller and Beverley Harris as Billy and Sarah. There were many more lovely cameo parts and these were all played well.
Special mention must go to Cath Fraser as Daisy and Joseph Stockton as Alfie. They both brought tears to the eyes of the audience, singing, acting and commanding the stage so very well. Congratulations to you both on very fine performances.
Well done to the whole company on a great evening of entertainment and I look forward to the next production.
