Ricky Players' 75th Anniversary production boasted a super on-stage 20-strong orchestra, a fine film sequence in sepia of Norma Desmond's car approaching and leaving Paramount Studios (aka a Chorleywood Retirement Village), great scenery (projected), lighting and sound, and superb costumes. Their ensemble was fully committed and their principals to die for (especially Joe who did and Norma who may well have been sentenced later). Brilliant singing of the great numbers and realistic acting ensured that the emotional content lost nothing from the limited stage space.
