Summer Singalong

How lovely to see performers on stage at last!  This was my first opportunity to review a production of any sort and it was a real treat to be able to sit there in cabaret style and be entertained by this company with songs old and new.  An ideal entertainment for a summer’s afternoon.

The fifteen singers/dancers took us from Summer Songs right through to those we could singalong, with songs from musicals, the 195O’s/60’s, the 2000’s and some Country & Western in between.

Costumes were changed in a flash and it was all performed in front of a very suitable starry backcloth.  All were in good voice and working well with the recorded music and the choreography was simple but very effective.

I must say that the highlight for me was that lovely duet “I Know him so Well” from Chess which was sung so beautifully by Nasim Chillcott and Becca Huggett (I do hope those are the right names!).

This potpourri of song must have taken some time to get together and rehearse under the eye of Director Judith Foot and her assistants and it certainly made a very worthwhile production.

The programme was well put together and gave just the right amount of information.

I know that you will now be busy with your next production as Panto season will soon be with us, and I shall look forward to seeing and reviewing that (Oh Yes I Will!!).

It’s great that so many companies are able to start up again – long may it last as they are definitely keeping theatre alive.
