Spotlights Musical Theatre Group have been taking the Sunninghill audiences on a fun trip across America from the Cordes Hall down Route 66 to San Fransisco and Hawaii with an eclectic mix of well-known songs from Gilbert and Sullivan, Rogers and Hammerstein and Sixties and Seventies. Each is instantly recognisable, brings a smile of recognition to the face and has the audience quietly tapping along.

It is a perfect vehicle (a combination of planes ,trains, automobiles and boats) for a community choir to travel together in a shared experience and is at its best when the enthusiastic Musical Director with her excellent piano accompanist, take control and bring the whole Ensemble to their feet with delightful harmonies and a real sense of enjoyment in singing together. The selection of tunes is linked with an amusing tenuous narrative written by a member of the society full of puns and the feel of a Bill Bryson travelogue .

The sense of location is created with some well-chosen projected images and a wonderful selection of props and hats, to add colour and character which enhances the fun of the production. The result is a happy inclusive adventure in which everyone is welcomed to travel, and the audience join them with pleasure and amusement and would undoubtedly say to those not there, wish you were here.
