STRING OF PEARLS
BY FRANKIE BASKERVILLE
Set in the present day and written by Frankie Baskerville. Covering the saucy risqué subject of Swingers, and all that conjures up, this play can cause immense titillation for an audience in fact their laughter can overshadow the dialogue!
An Ann Summers catalogue delivered in error and a letter left lying around which can be interpreted either way, causes speculation and intense embarrassment for a nosy family.
A farce like this is most difficult and set space was limited for this play yet they all managed skilfully to keep the continuity going and the delivery swift and clear so nothing of the outrageous humour was lost Throughout both plays, dialogue was well delivered and diction perfect.
Creating a tense atmosphere from the beginning Margorie Crowe as Mam and Michael Fleming as Dad, both experienced actors were a perfect match as the Husband and Wife played against one another and sparred, relevant to any cohabiting couple.
Perfect foils for them and natural experts at dialogue were Janet, Sian Edwards and Karen, Cheryl Williams.
Alex Mac Intosh playing three roles Justin, Wayne and Betterwear Man did well in all three, with very good interpretation.
The final scene with the quiet humour of Mam and Dad was outstanding.
