Spider's Web is Agatha Christie's second most successful play, It is surpassed only by her record-breaking The Mousetrap.
Ian Ogden as Sir Rowland Delahaye established the tone of evening immediately giving a very solid performance which captured the correct ‘feel’ of the character and his place in the drama.
Wayne Vincent as Hugh Birch was nicely stodgy and trusting, good characterisation, clear diction, solid performance.
Peter Griffiths as Jeremy Warrender was every inch the would-be ladies man. Good double sided character, a bold performance throughout the play creating some lovely pieces of theatre. Good stage presence.
Nicki Sian as Clarissa Hailsham-Brown took on the constant changes in her character’s attitudes and her storytelling as though it was simply second nature to her. Her carefully coiffed hairdo and costumes added to the warm yet refined appeal of the character. Strong performance, good stage presence and all in just 3 weeks.
Helen Blundell as Pippa Hailsham-Brown had some great light and shade and put a lot of energy into the role and gave a very confident performance.
Melissa Rabaoitti as Mildred Peake had good comedy timing, but you knew there was something more going on with her than just being the jolly gardener. madly eccentric and a delightful character. Clear diction, strong performance.
Luke Whitlock as Elgin the very sinister butler gave a good all round performance, good stage presence and clear diction.
Patrick Baker as Oliver Costello gave us a good portrayal of the character. Good performance.
Nicholas Ferrier as Henry Hailsham-Brown was ideal in the role, good character and stage presence.
Michael Morgan as Inspector Lord was a solid and reassuring presence, taking the audience with him as he worked through the tangled web of bluff and double bluff. Good performance.
Roger Page as Constable Jones gave some amusingly helpful interjections always providing a chuckle along the way. Good comic timing.
The cast overall did a good job with their British accents from Cockney and Welsh to proper upper-class diplomat.
The set was well designed and functional and the lighting was appropriate. Stage props and costumes were authentic.
Thank you to your hospitality, I look forward to the next production.
