It is always a pleasure to be invited to see any show from the Perform Cast, but I was very excited to see what they would give to the all-time favourite “Spamalot” that they performed at the Wydean School Chepstow. I’m not sure that I have time or space for all my thoughts, but to say that the Monty Python Team would have been proud is I am sure going to be an understatement.
Under the Direction of Dan Thomas-Williamson, Musical Director Hannah Creber and Choreographer Megan Pugh-Adams, Spamalot hit the stage running and didn’t slow down for one second. It left the audience in no doubt that they were in the presence of outstanding talent.
Having a double casting, I was only present for the performance of one principle cast but having witnessed on many occasions the talents of the alternative cast, I am in no doubt that each performance would have provided the exact standard of professionalism. I therefore feel that my words relate to them all.
Gareth Hale as king Arthur gave a perfect characterisation. The carefully modulated voice and superb comic timing understated and so effective. Pure Monty Python. A great performance.
The 4 Knights Elliot Postle as Sir Galahad, Mike O’Driscoll-Baines as Sir Lancelot, Maxi Stow as Sir Robin and Rachel Banfield as Sir Bedevere, were a casting that worked so well. The superb dialogue especially the opening speech from Elliott, the comic timing, the characterisations that kept the audience laughing and their amazing highlighted individual performances, were a triumph. My respect and congratulations to you all.
What can you say when you don’t say anything ? Ellie Hall as Patsy the long-suffering horse substitute with a coconut dialogue couldn’t tell you but I can. A truly amazing performance. How to say nothing and steal the stage. The comic timing and facial expression said it all. Bravo.
My congratulations to Dylan Michael as Prince Herbert. The characterisation was superb, and the audience loved it.
Our Lady of The Lake, one of theatres most renowned roles was played by Izzy O’Driscoll-Baines. She took the stage made it her own and had the audience in the palm of her hand. Comedy, musicality and outstanding stage presence. She wore the stage like a personal garment. Magnificent.
The movement and timing throughout the performance was nothing but professional but the show was brought to life by the superb choreography [Megan Pugh-Adams] and the skill of the dancers, who looked superb, thanks to Louise Pugh [Set and costume design] and moved throughout the show enhancing every scene.
My congratulations to the whole cast on a superb performance, as each one made the difference between a good show and a great show.
I look forward to your next production. BRAVO
