This year’s concert was made up of award-winning songs from the movies. Sung by soloists, groups and full ensemble. Everyone took part in a great evening’s entertainment. The sound and lighting was just right for the Church Hall, the ladies were nicely dressed and the men wearing suits made everyone look smart.

The range of songs chosen was very good, and several members took turns introducing the numbers about to be sung, giving lots of information about the song and film it came from. Including Singing in the Rain, South Pacific, and the Wizard of Oz, opening with Let me Entertain You from Gypsy, we were definitely in for lots of musical favourites.

The great thing about Waterside is they have lots of Musical Directors all taking their own section of the concert with their own style of getting the best out of the singing. Comedy had also been added to some of the songs either in the way they are staged or the way they were sung, which worked well.

There were lots of lovely songs in this show making it difficult to pick a favourite however, I did really liked the opening of Act Two Superman/Star Wars big movie section, Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire and the James Bond selection with the two solos superbly sung by Lisa Phillips & Mike Pavitt.

Well done to you all.
