A delightful evening's entertainment at Cleckheaton Town Hall, the room was set out with large tables decorated with flags, plus red, white and blue mementoes. The Compere (Michael Hellawell) sat on the stage linking the production together with little anecdotes of his own. The cast were on a raised platform on the floor of the main hall which made you feel part of the whole event. Their first entrance was a blast from the past with "Tell me Pretty Maiden" from 'Floradora' a show I am sure will never see the light of day again, so it was lovely to hear that number once more. There were two more numbers from that era before they started with the songs from World War One and Two. The soloist was Amy Roche, who sang some Vera Lynn numbers among her songs. I personally enjoyed "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square". There was of course the sing along, with all the old wartime numbers including the audience, and that concluded the first half. In the second half the compere introduced the Grange Moor Band who sat on the stage, they delivered a very moving "Abide with Me" and a wonderful selection from Glenn Miller. For the finale the complete company lead by Amy sang with feelibng the lovely "We'll Meet Again". Congratulations.
