Bringing a much-loved television classic to the stage is always a gamble, particularly when audiences know the characters and comedy so well. Thankfully, this production captured all the warmth, chaos and charm that has made Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em such an enduring favourite, whilst still feeling fresh, energetic and wonderfully theatrical.

From the moment the curtain rose, it was clear an enormous amount of thought, care and technical ambition had gone into the production. The set design alone was exceptional, packed with clever practical effects, collapsing scenery, visual gags and ambitious stunt work that elevated the comedy throughout the evening. The audience reaction said it all, with laughter ringing around the theatre from start to finish and a genuinely lovely atmosphere both on and off the stage.

The cast approached the material with confidence and commitment, striking an excellent balance between honouring the original television characters whilst still making the performances feel authentic and natural in their own right. Strong comic timing, believable characterisation and excellent chemistry across the company ensured the humour landed consistently well, particularly during the more frantic physical sequences and carefully choreographed moments of chaos.

Behind the scenes, the creative and technical teams should be tremendously proud of what they achieved. Productions of this nature rely heavily on precision, timing and organisation, and every department clearly worked together seamlessly to bring the show to life. Costumes, lighting, sound, props and backstage coordination all contributed enormously to the success of the evening.

Overall, this was a hugely entertaining, technically ambitious and joyfully performed production that demonstrated exactly what amateur theatre does best: bringing communities together through laughter, creativity and sheer dedication. An outstanding achievement all round.
