Lindley Players thank you for giving us a new work, it’s always difficult, and very challenging. Thank you also for an enjoyable evening in ‘Solstice’, you took a chance on this new work and it has paid off!! It was a pleasure for me to be able to review ‘Solstice’.

Tackling such a sensitive subject and bringing it to the stage, Writer Nigel Medhurst and Director Peter Bressington certainly worked professionally and knew what they wanted, and achieved it. A very abstract set, which I loved, there again Peter you stuck your neck out and it was certainly workable, along with Linsey Dale and Andrea Ellway on lighting operation, and lighting design by Roger Davis and Nigel Rowe was very atmospheric - well done to all. You had a big team of creatives and you should be proud of them, as I feel sure you are.

Peter you choose your cast perfectly. Nigel, as I feel sure you knew your play was in very capable hands in Peter and his cast. Luke Fruin as Noel gave his part a sense of being, Luke could have over played Noel but he didn’t, and kept it up all through the piece, giving his audience a perfect understanding of his venerability, in such a sensitive real life situation. Perfect Luke. There was also great backup from the rest of this powerful cast. Lucy Conlan as Alexa (yes that ball you talk too), Mel (Ellen Hinchcliffe) as his carer, John (Pete Raine) Renee (Mandy Hunt), Fred (David Bushell), Richard (David Daly), Phoenix (Hannah Honey) and Lyn (Charlotte Lewis).

The Lindley Players, you always satisfy your audiences and you certainly did with this new work…..Thank you.
