As I stepped into Somerton Parish Rooms, I was greeted by a smiling and friendly front of house team, all dressed as dwarfs. The bag of delicious apple themed goodies was a delightful gesture and set the tone for a fantastic, family-friendly evening.

The four-piece band was a fantastic addition, enriching the entire production with their wonderful performance. Their music was seamlessly integrated throughout the show, enhancing every scene and filling the hall with vibrancy and character.

The lighting and sound were flawlessly executed, adding a professional touch that enhanced every moment of each scene. The staging and scenery, lovingly crafted by the cast and crew, looked absolutely fantastic and played a crucial role in bringing the story to life. The costumes were perfectly tailored to each character, making them instantly recognizable to the audience. I was particularly impressed by the number of costume changes the Dame had and must give special recognition to Amanda for her incredible work creating those fabulous wigs. Well done!

Kicking off the pantomime, we were introduced to the Evil Queen, who appeared dressed head to toe in a stunning blue wicked costume. The audience immediately reacted, booing and hissing from start to finish. The portrayal was expertly executed, with fantastic characterisation and that unforgettable cackle! I particularly enjoyed your rendition of ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ which truly captured the essence of the villain.

The Magic Mirror was a brilliantly crafted addition, bringing a truly enchanting element to the stage. I loved the unique accent you brought to the character, and I have to applaud you for maintaining it flawlessly throughout the entire performance. The rhyming lines flowed naturally, and your comedic timing was absolutely perfect, bringing so much energy and charm to every moment you were on stage.

Snow White, dressed in a classic and elegant costume, graced the stage with both her beautiful singing voice and a smile that never faltered. You truly embodied the spirit of a pantomime princess, bringing charm and grace to every scene. I especially enjoyed your rendition of ‘I Could Have Danced All Night,’ where you showcased both your vocal talent and your ability to captivate the audience. The moment when you were having your teeth brushed while singing was inspired - your timing and expression during that scene were absolute perfection.

Nurse Nellie made an unforgettable entrance, arriving in style from the back of the hall in a hand-painted ambulance. The ‘wide load reversing’ and the flashing light on your head were such a brilliant and hilarious touch that set the tone for your fantastic performance. Your ad-libbing was spot on, with fabulous facial expressions that brought each moment to life. The energy you brought to the stage was boundless, and your singing voice was just as impressive. You captured the role of the Dame with so much flair, style, and class, effortlessly portraying the character while adding your own unique charm. Your performance truly elevated the show, and you brought so much fun, humour, and heart to the stage.

Muddles was an absolute joy to watch, bringing infectious energy and enthusiasm that kept the audience engaged from start to finish. Full of fun with impeccable comedic timing, you effortlessly blended humour and chaos, creating a whirlwind of laughter. You commanded the stage from the outset, and your connection with the audience was undeniable. With a fantastic singing voice and brilliant dance moves, you added an extra layer of excitement to the performance, leaving a lasting impression.

I absolutely loved the comedy duo Gribble & Scrub. Their chemistry was fantastic, effortlessly playing off each other throughout the show with witty banter and a perfect sense of timing. Their playful antics and sharp exchanges kept the audience laughing from start to finish. It was clear they were having just as much fun performing as we were watching. Well done to both of you!

Prince Artemis made a striking entrance, delivering one of the most memorable thigh slaps I’ve ever witnessed. With his dashing looks, confident presence, and regal posture, he nailed the portrayal of the perfect Prince. His singing voice was impressive, and I especially enjoyed your duet with Snow White. You fully embraced the role of the pantomime Prince, bringing the character to life with both charm and charisma.

The seven dwarfs marched into the hall, their leader, Brainy, leading the way with an air of strength and authority. His commanding presence demanded respect, and the others followed closely behind. Cranky remained true to his name, grumbling incessantly and never missing a chance to make a snide remark. Blusher, with her bright pink cheeks, brought a sense of warmth and joy to the group, her cheerful presence lifted everyone’s spirits. Snoozy’s constant yawning and drowsy demeanour made him endearing, while Smiler’s infectious grin lit up every scene. Sniffy’s exaggerated sniffles and sneezes added a hilarious touch, making every moment with him delightfully unpredictable. Dozy, though speaking only a few words, melted hearts with her irresistibly cute presence, earning affectionate laughs from the audience. Together, all the dwarfs worked seamlessly as a team to bring their characters to life, each contributing their unique traits, making them both charming and lovable to the audience.

A special mention to the two wonderful guards, whose small but mighty role was integral to the story, proving that even brief moments can leave a lasting impact. Their presence, though brief, carried depth and importance, showing that even the smallest roles can make a difference.

There were so many moments I absolutely loved, it’s hard to mention them all, but a few highlights include the hilarious ‘Fat Bottom Girls,’ the impressive burning cauldron prop, Snow White’s powerful solo of ‘On My Own,’ and the unforgettable collapsing bench scene during ‘Count on Me.’

The choreography was brilliant, perfectly capturing the spirit of each moment and keeping the energy high throughout. The singing was impressive, with every note beautifully delivered, and the direction was seamless, bringing the entire production together with precision. I had an absolutely delightful evening, filled with laughter and enjoyment, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for creating such a fun and memorable night.
