Yet again we, the audience, were treated to everything expected of a pantomime (Oh yes we were!)– brilliant scenery, bright, bright costumes with lots of changes, slapstick, laughter, ‘Ah’ moments and audience participation. Richard Cheshire, the author, director and Dame Dolly Dumplings, expertly drew every nuance from the show; he certainly had everyone laughing. We were guided through the action by Fairy Web (Harriet Taylor) with a lovely singing voice and twinkling fairy performance.

Queen Cruella ( Julie McNicholls) had some lovely moments within her performance, enhanced even more by technical wizardry. Magic Mirror Man (Carl Ryan) revelled in his part. Snow White (Alice Wymer) and Prince William (Daniel Rogers) worked well together. Muddles (Marcus Dobson) has such energy it fair wears you out just watching. His giggles are infectious. Herman the Henchman (Ioan Guile) was very much in charge of his character despite convincingly giving us the opposite impression.

The three stooges Fusspot, Top Notch and Moneybags (Theresa Jones, Alex Neil and Lynne Baker respectively) were bang up to date with #, etc. The storyline gave them opportunity to show two character roles. Bonzo (Lowri Evans) played a cute, mischievous dog. Smwg the Dragon (Martyn Smith) was a mixture of ‘friendly’ and ‘fierce’. And where would Snow White be without her seven dwarfs? Their names were changed slightly but kept the well known characterisations. Well done to all the children who shared the performances.

This large cast of principals and ensemble of singers, dancers and children worked very hard to share their enjoyment of performing with the audience, with much success, and the technical crew also deserve credit for their very clever effects from the opening to the final curtain.

Congratulations everyone.
