This is the first time that I have visited Soberton Players. They are a well established small family orientated village society and I was very warmly welcomed by Caroline and her front of house crew. This was opening night. I took my seat in the hall and looked forward to the coming evening's entertainment. The set with a forest scene around the stage and over the proscenium, was well designed and utilised the limited space well. The show, Snow White 2 is a follow-on from Snow White, what happened after she was awoken by Prince Charming.

All the usual affair was here, the Evil Queen, Snow, Prince Charming, seven (well five) dwarfs, a cast of mice and the Dame! Sound, Richard Bell-Davies and Phil Davies along with Malcolm Avery on lights were of a good standard and added very well to the staging. The sound was at the right level for the venue and meant that we heard all the words well, without it being overpowering. The costumes, and there were lots of them, were very good, strong solid colours for the dwarfs and the traditional Snow White, Blue and Yellow. A sterling job here by Zoe Phillips and her team.

The directorial team of Ben Bracken, Caroline Barfoot along with the musical direction of Kate Jones had obviously worked very hard with the cast and this was evident. Diction was good which along with Caroline Rogers' choreography, led to them being understood whilst moving

Good principal performances by Daisy Golds as Snow, Sharron Canning as the Wicked Queen, Ben Bracken, Ida Fernley-Forester (the Dame) and the very good Mike Flannigan as Boots the Cat were all confident in their performances and were very ably backed up by Ryan Lane, the Prince, Shirley Tebby as Slippers and Jeremy Miles as Rupert Fearnley-Forester along with the remaining cast and crew.

This is Village Panto at a very high standard, and I had a very enjoyable evening full of laughs. Congratulations Soberton, your first show as NODA members and one that was enjoyed by everyone there. See you for "Par for the Course" in March.
