This piece was written and Produced by Rachel Jones who must be congratulated for this monumental effort on behalf of the entire company, together with the enthusiastic audience.
Well done Rachel!!
The cast was led by two Narrators, ‘Fairy Tale’, Gabbey Allen accompanied by Scarlett Cowell, ‘Mini Fairy Tale’ and ‘Fairy Story’, Zoe Thompson. They appeared at intervals beautifully dressed, mainly between scenes, keeping us on our toes as to what may come next. Imogen Walker fully justified her selection in the title role of ‘Snow White’, was partnered well by Katrina Purton portraying ‘Prince Dragon’. A brilliant characterization of ‘Nanny Nenagh’ from Jason Walker who had the audience responding to him from his very first entrance. A commanding performance from Ruth Purton as ‘Captain’ was no surprise, as Ruth seems to be at home whatever character she portrays and this role was no exception.
There is always a ‘baddie’ in a pantomime and Eirlys Walker gave a faultless performance as ‘Queen’ with vigour and polish. Eirlys received the expected reaction from the audience with some resounding ‘boos’, especially from the youngsters who entered into the spirit of the piece.
Valuable contribution to the story from Gareth O’Reilly as ‘Magic Mirror’, loved his singing, together with Daniel Jones as ‘Valet’ and [Ma1] William Thomas as ‘Pirate’.
A group of the members portrayed seven notes of the music scale. ‘Do’ ‘Re’ ‘Mi’ ‘Fa’ ‘So’ ‘La’ ‘Ti’ and the whole company confidently supported the Principles as Guards, Ghosts, Villagers Pirates and Mini Guards.
Some of the minor roles and one liners in the script were lost as I feel sometimes the Company needed to be further down stage but this didn’t mar the enjoyment of the well written pantomime. It was a great privilege to present four NODA Long service Youth Certficates to four members of the cast after the finale. Also, a Noda 15 year Long Service Badge to Eirlys Walker, ‘Queen’ who was at last pleased, after all the ‘Boos’, to receive a huge round of applause, together with the other recipients, at the end of the proceedings.
Thank you once again Amlwch Showstoppers, another feather in your cap, I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, and I look forward to your next Production.
