Upchurch Players, my newest NODA member: this is my first trip to see them in my capacity as their representative although I have visited before, last year in fact.

Upchurch Players are a rare (these days) community theatre group, and it shows. It was a joyous evening's entertainment.

Congratulations go out to Adam James and Sally Hood for overcoming the difficulties of directing Snow White on such a small stage. They used all the exits and entries to make this panto run smoothly. Costumes were colourful and in period. The kids playing the dwarfs were all on cue, and looked like they were having a great time. I liked the emojis on their tops, so we could identify each one, a smart move.

Some of the adult leading characters, needed to pick up a bit on the speed of delivery of their lines. There were exceptions and when this happened they were funny. With so many in the cast, it wouldn’t be fair of me to mention them all by name. This panto had a true community spirit, and that spilled over into the audience.

Joe Weller as Musical Director certainly kept Snow White musically sound, a rare talent and so young. Set and props, all made by the society, were set quickly by the stage crew and looked very professional.

All in all, Upchurch Players, it is a pleasure to have you on-board and under the NODA umbrella. Well done, your enthusiasm and commitment to Snow White kept your nearly full audience cheering for more. Keep this up! Thank you for inviting me.
