I was delighted to join the rest of a ‘sell out’ audience for PODS’ pantomime offering.

The large set was well designed and constructed, offering multiple levels for the performers’ use.  Lighting was very effective and the use of snow and bubble machines gave a real boost of energy to the audience in attendance.

The cast in this production were large in size and full of talent and enthusiasm.  Ensemble numbers were well sung and performed with appropriate choreography handled well.

Sally Bevan and Emma Dennett were really good fun as Jingles and Jangles.  They had great energy and worked well together to keep the production moving along.

The role of Princess Rose was played by Becky McVicar.  She had a lovely character and sang well during the musical numbers.

Tom Wilde was excellent as Rose’s love interest, Jaxon.  He had very strong vocals in the musical numbers and I particularly enjoyed ‘Proud of your boy’.  Well done!

The traditional panto dame; Nanny Poppins was played by Alex Wilson.  He had great comic timing and a super character.

No panto would be complete without a baddie.  In this production, the ‘Maleficent-like’ Morgana was played by the incredibly versatile Penni Carr.  This was another great performance by Penni, showcasing her tremendous acting skills to deliver a fantastic character.

The other named roles (there were far too many to mention!) were performed well, adding energy and focus into the production.  All singing and movement was strong and well delivered.

As always, it was lovely to see the stage filled with the next generation of performers and they must be congratulated for what they brought to the production.  I am thrilled to see just how many youngsters were involved in this performance; split into three teams.  Well done everyone.

I was fortunate enough to be accompanied to this production by my eight year old daughter who had a brilliant time.  Thank you, PODS for another great production and for your hospitality since I took over the role in July.  I look forward to seeing you all in 2025.
