The annual trip to the Woodford pantomime always brings great excitement. This high budget show with high production values and a talented cast and crew always produce a quality show that keeps the crowds returning year after year. Director Dawn Young, technical guru John Evans and Musical Director Mike Bates have, for many years, been the guiding lights with others joining them to ensure the excellence of the show. This year a new director stepped up from within the team and did a superb job.

This was a very good script with genuinely funny jokes and puns. The double-entendres were cheeky rather than smutty and these were all well delivered with good diction so that we heard the build-ups and punchlines.

The glitzy dance routines, created by choreographer Jemma Hickman, were very impressive. The highly talented troupe of dancers were well synchronised and their routines made a big impact. All the principals were superb and understood the Panto genre fully. Dame Nurse Nancy and the evil Magnificent stood out amongst an array of talents. Everyone sang well showing off fine musical theatre voices.

The Woodford Panto places a lot of emphasis on audience participation which is never disappointing and probably part of what brings back the crowds year after year. Great work one and all.
