What is PANTO? Panto in Ashford is Alan Stamp, he wrote, produced, directed, starred in and was also techie guru. Alan I think has panto in his blood. This is all evident in this year's Sleeping Beauty. Great cast, wonderful costumes (Teresa Hickman and Bobbie-Marie Stamp), slick and modern choreography by Bobbie-Marie Stamp, and Molly Spence as Dance Captain. Lighting and sound from the Tech crew was spot on. All this came together and Alan you should be proud of yourself and your splendid cast.

I could stop there, but I won’t. Fairy Dewdrop (Rae Anderson) and Carabosse (Bobbie-Marie Stamp) - good and bad fairies bounced off one another, both with lyrical voices and strong stage presence. Princess Beauty (Molly Spence) also having good stage presence, both in singing and dance, gave us part of the love interest along with a young Prince Frederick (Adam Colman) - these two were very believable in their roles. Jangles (Alan Stamp) need I say more …..well yes. This man is so talented in all areas of panto and Jangles is the ideal part for Alan, funny, slick, and knows how to put comedy over to his audience. Now Nurse Nellie!! Words fail me, this Lady oozes commitment to the part of Dame corpses (ha ha) well and is so talented to be able to do this and keep us entertained. Super part for Cassandra Spence, so funny. The Dragon (how you got on stage amazes me, so huge) Heather Newman, a difficult part but executed expertly, well done to Heather. The Pun Cart and the ghost scenes were very funny, when I was in panto they were the scenes I hated, but does it matter if it goes awry, of course not, its funnier!!  These actors were backed up by a young ensemble who were Eve Cooper, Evelyn Cotterell, Lily Dines, Jessica Linington, Heather Newman, Phoebe Page, Ellie Shevlin, Ezri Spring, Ellie Taylor, Kacey-Mar-Young, and Mia Young.

What a splendid afternoon was had by all at Ashford Theatre. It was windy, rainy, and cold outside but we forgot about this, we were entertained and were thoroughly mesmerised by the cast of Sleeping Beauty. Well done all.
